The Unreachable Itch

Writer's picture: Humor Beats CancerHumor Beats Cancer

My name is Nikki and am a 43-year-old breast cancer survivor from California. I hated joining the $hitty Titty Club but the members are incredibly amazing. I was able to get through my diagnosis through the support of my loved ones, practicing gratitude, and laughter.

I read this book about a woman whose first cancer symptom was an itch.

As soon as I was done with that chapter, I felt an itch. It became increasingly worse and on top of that a hard lump developed.

When my husband came home, I ran to him crying. I told him I thought my cancer came back because I had an excessive itch and developed a hard lump.

My husband looked at it and said, “Sweetie, that’s not cancer, that’s a mosquito bite.”

Now whenever my anxiety gets the best of me, I always think of that mosquito bite. LOL
